A: It is critical to advocate for the University - in a way that the University cannot. If there is one thing we have learned over the years - it is that where government spending is involved, politics is inevitably involved too. Q: How can I make a contribution to the Maroon & Gold Rising PAC?
A: Donations are welcomed via check; payable to: Maroon & Gold PAC and mailed to Maroon & Gold PAC, 310 4th Ave S, Suite 5010, Minneapolis, MN 55415 OR online by clicking here.
Q: What kinds of contributions does the committee accept?
A: The committee will accept contributions from individuals who are U.S. citizens or have permanent resident status.
Q: What kinds of contributions are prohibited?
A: Under Minnesota law, the committee may not accept (1) contributions from corporations or LLCs; (2) contributions from foreign nationals who lack permanent resident status; and (3) anonymous contributions (unless they are for $20 or less).
Q: Is a PAC contribution tax-deductible?
A: No.
Q: Is there a maximum amount that I may contribute to the committee?
A: No, there is no maximum contribution limit.
Q: What information will the committee disclose about my contribution?
A: Under Minnesota law, the committee must disclose your name, address, and employer, the total amount of your contribution(s), and the date(s) on which you contributed during the year, If your total contributions to the committee exceed $200 in a year. Under Minnesota law, the committee must file regular reports with the Minnesota Campaign Finance Board disclosing its receipts and expenditures.
Q: How will the committee decide how to spend funds?
A: The PAC’s bipartisan Board of Directors will direct contributions to political campaign committees of candidates, caucuses and party committees who support the legislative objectives in support of the University of Minnesota.
Q: What political affiliations does the Maroon & Gold PAC support?
A: We support both DFL and GOP caucuses, leadership, and influential members on the key committees across the political spectrum. Our focus is on those who can support the University of Minnesota.
Q: May I specify that I want my contribution to go to a particular candidate?
A: No, earmarking to individual candidates is prohibited under Minnesota Law.
