From the Office of the President

Dear Friends -

As alumni and supporters of this great institution, I want to extend my sincere appreciation for sharing your proud voice over recent months, and to ask for help sharing your voice with state elected officials.

I am so inspired by the many of you who have reached out to me to ask how you can help the University during this challenging time - from your important input into MPact 2025, our University’s new systemwide strategic plan, to our most recent Support the U Day where you let your state legislators know why the U of M matters to you and your family, as well as to ask for their support for the University this legislative session. The University is poised for greater impact because of your countless acts of service that instill gratitude in all of us.

Today we are asking you to engage once again, but in a slightly different way. Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan recommended fully funding the University’s legislative request when they released their budget in January. Their early support of our request to the state showed a strong commitment to the U of M, and to the work of our students, faculty, and staff, and we are grateful for their support.

The Governor and Lt. Governor will soon enter final budget negotiations with the House and Senate, and we need your help to ensure their recommendation to fully fund the U of M becomes law.

We ask you to contact the Governor and Lt. Governor today by clicking on the “Take Action” button below. Please thank them for supporting the U of M, and ask them to make fully funding the U of M a high priority in final budget negotiations.

My sincere thanks to you and our alumni family for your support in this important effort, and for all that you do to support the U of M. With your help today, we can strengthen the University’s important co-investment with the state in the future, and ensure that our best days lie ahead.

With warmest regards,

Joan Gabel
